Tuesday around 6:15 a.m., Guelph police received a report of a break and enter in progress at a residence located just outside downtown.
A male resident discovered that someone had broken into his detached garage overnight, rummaged through his motor vehicle, gained entry to an upstairs loft above the garage and was still there.
At 6:24 a.m., police arrived on scene, entered the loft, and ultimately located the suspect in a small storage room. He was subsequently arrested.
A 35-year-old Guelph man is charged with:
- Break, enter dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence
- Two counts of breach probation
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
