At Woodlawn Memorial Park we take pride in the services we provide to the community of Guelph and beyond. As a member of our summer operations team, you will assist with the maintenance and general care of the cemetery grounds.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Operates grass cutting equipment (ride on and push mower), leaf blower and line trimmer
• Maintain garden beds; planting, weeding, watering and general clean up for annual and perennial beds
• Collection and removal of debris and litter from the property
• Occasional assistance with burial preparation and completion
• Occasional assistance with concrete work
• General equipment and work area clean up
• Courteous communication with clients, guests, and visitors
Hours of Work
• 40 hours per week $20.00 per hour, generally between 8:00-430.
•Shift times may be adjusted to accommodate operational requirements
•Must be available to work on Saturdays based on operational requirements
Knowledge and Skills Required:
• High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
• Landscaping/horticulture and maintenance experience desired, including experience operating lawn care machinery and hand tools.
• Knowledge of pertinent health and safety legislation including WHMIS is an asset
• As this is a physical position, you may be required to lift up to 50 lbs. and endure prolonged standing, walking, squatting and bending
• Willing and able to work in an outdoor environment and actively participate in daily activities in various weather conditions
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
• May have interactions with grieving/emotional family and friends while carrying out the duties of the position
