Duties & Responsibilities
• General landscape maintenance and assistance with outdoor operations, including lawn mowing, trimming, turf renovation, planting & maintenance of flowerbeds and pruning of trees and shrubs
• As you gain knowledge and comfort, you will be required to assist with preparation of burial sites and the opening and closing of graves including direct communication with funeral home staff & grieving families
• Safe & efficient operation, care & maintenance of all equipment, tools & vehicles
• Apply safety precautions and procedures while performing all duties, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Woodlawn Memorial Park Safety Policies
• Litter pick up and general cleaning & maintenance of equipment & buildings
• Communicate courteously & demonstrate empathy with clients, guests, and visitors
• Assist in the installation of concrete foundations, lawn level markers and bronze memorial products
• Provide support to other team functions
Hours of Work & Compensation
• 40 hours per week, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm which includes an unpaid 30 minute meal break
• Hourly rate of $24.00 - $26.00 based on experience and skillset

• Must be available to work on Saturdays based on operational requirements
Qualifications:
• Minimum High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
• Diploma or Certificate in arboriculture or turf management would be an asset
• Valid Class “G” drivers license with clean Drivers Abstract
• Knowledge of pertinent health and safety legislation including WHMIS
• Willing and able to perform physical work in various weather conditions
• Able to lift up to 50lbs and perform the physical demands, including lifting, bending and kneeling on a regular basis
• Prior experience in cemeteries or a related field involving manual physical labour and operation of power tools, vehicles and equipment
• Prior experience with the operation of a backhoe, excavator, loader, tractor mower or similar is considered an asset
• Must be able to work constructively in a team environment or independently as required exercising good judgement, safe and appropriate maintenance practices, and procedures
• Must possess the necessary interpersonal skills to deal compassionately and patiently with grieving families
• Ability to effectively multi task and handle changing priorities
