For a car dealership to be successful, its sales team members not only need to be fully knowledgeable about the products, but they also need to provide an elevated guest experience.
That’s key to developing trust with both established and new guests looking to purchase, lease, or trade in a vehicle. Equally important is having the right people in the roles critical to the successful management of the operation. At Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln, that means employing people like Josh Miller.
Miller came to the dealership after being noticed at a mobile phone company by dealership owner and President, Wayne Bricknell, who witnessed Miller’s professional manner and exceptional service when interacting with his customers. Now, six and a half years later, Miller has been promoted to Sales Manager at Wayne Pitman Ford Lincoln, and that’s good news for both Miller and the loyal dealership clientele.
“Josh is a wonderful guy who has really worked his way up and endeared himself to a lot of people,” said Doug Bricknell, Operations Manager at the family-owned and operated dealership. “We consider him a homegrown talent who has built a great reputation for himself. Josh's professionalism, approachability, attention to detail, and commitment to providing a positive guest experience are things that have helped propel him into this new Sales Manager role.”
Miller is joining the existing management team of Jack Ayres (GSM), who started as a teen as the dealership over 41 years ago, and Tony Krasovec (UCM), who has been with the company almost 30 years. Both Ayres and Krasovec were also promoted from within, which Bricknell says is an important aspect of the way business is conducted at Wayne Pitman.
“Guelph has grown quite a bit in recent years, and we want to make sure that we grow with Guelph and serve the community the best we can,” he said. “Hiring from within ensures consistency and continuity for our loyal guests, while also allowing us to progress and improve. There’s opportunity here at Wayne Pitman Ford for professional growth.”
According to Bricknell, having an experienced Sales Manager in place is like having a strong coach behind the bench to encourage, teach, and inspire all members of the team.
“It really is a lot of coaching, relationship management, and analysis,” said Bricknell. “There’s more of a data driven approach to managing now, and we welcome that because it’s fair and equitable to everybody. That kind of accountability is meant to benefit the guest in terms of better communications, regular follow-up, and ensuring people get the right answers they need when they need them. Josh will help us stay on top of things, enhancing the guest experience.”
One of the things Bricknell says Miller will bring to the role is his mastery of the technology now being used to conduct automotive sales. That means better use of tools like Customer Relationship Management software and other marketing strategies.
“Using such tools allows us have more efficient communication with guests. That might mean using text rather than chasing phone calls to make things easier or utilizing video demonstrations rather than having people drive to the dealership. We are focused on making things as convenient and hassle-free as possible. Josh is motivated to help us grow and retain relationships. It’s such a people driven business. We are grateful to have Josh on our team and we are excited for the future together.”
