The following news releases were issued today by the Guelph Police Service:
Mischief investigation leads to numerous charges
On April 18, 2020 at 10:41 p.m., an adult male was inside the front entrance vestibule of an apartment building located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. The male then used a screwdriver to pry a black lockbox off the wall.
A tenant observed the male with the lockbox, at which point the male ran away, leaving the lockbox behind.
On April 21, police located the male in the downtown core and he was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed a credit card not in the male’s name.
A 29-year-old Guelph male has been charged with:
• Mischief under $5,000
• Possession of stolen property under $5,000
• Fail to comply with judicial release
He will appear in court on Aug. 4.
Credit and debit cards used after theft from vehicle
On April 21, 2020 at 10 a.m., a vehicle parked outside a residence located near the intersection of Watson Parkway North and Eastview Road in the City of Guelph was entered. A wallet containing a credit card, debit card, $100 in United States currency and identity documents was taken.
The credit and debit cards were then used at various locations throughout the City of Guelph, including a store located near the intersection of Victoria Road North and Eramosa Road.

Vehicle entered twice in two weeks
Some time between April 11 and 12, 2020, a vehicle parked outside a residence located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph was entered. Multiple items were taken including a Driver’s Licence, Health Card, vehicle documents and a cheque book. Entry was gained as the vehicle was left unlocked.
Some time overnight on April 21, the same vehicle parked outside the same residence was again entered. Multiple items were taken including the owner’s manual, receipts, temporary Driver’s Licence, Health Card, vehicle registration and $15-$20 worth of change. Entry was gained as the front passenger side window was smashed with a rock.

Mailboxes pried open
Some time between noon on April 20 and noon on April 21, 2020, the mailboxes and parcel box of an apartment building located near the intersection of Westwood Road and Willow Road in the City of Guelph was pried open.
