A Guelph man faces dozens of charges after 26 vehicles had their windows smashed downtown early Tuesday.
Approximately 3:30 a.m. police began receiving reports of vehicles with damaged side windows. All damaged vehicles were parked in the areas of Cork Street and Yarmouth Street. It is believed the suspect was looking for items to steal, however no thefts were reported from any of the vehicles.
The total damage is estimated at more than $13,000.
It was believed the suspect sustained an injury to his hand or forearm, as blood was found at the scene including inside some of the damaged vehicles. He was captured on surveillance video at one of the scenes.
On Wednesday afternoon the male was located downtown and arrested. He was found to have sustained injuries consistent with the evidence at the scenes.
A 33-year-old Guelph man is charged with 26 counts each of mischief under $5,000 and attempted theft under $5,000, two counts of failing to comply with a bail order and one count of breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.
