Guelph police say a Guelph teen faces weapons and drug charges following an incident Wednesday which led to a high school being briefly placed in lockdown.
Approximately 1:40 p.m. police were called to the south- end school. Staff had learned a male attended the school to sell cannabis to students, and during an interaction in a bathroom brandished a small black handgun.
Police did not name the high school.
Officers arrived minutes later and located the male just outside the school. He was placed under arrest. A search revealed a black bb gun in the male’s pocket as well as a quantity of cannabis separated into various packages.
A 17-year-old Guelph male is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failing to comply with a judicial release and two counts under the Cannabis Act including selling to an individual under 18.
The arrested youth was not a student at the high school, police report.
