Guelph police believe the pictured man may be relevant to the theft of $50,000 worth of scratch tickets.

Guelph police are continuing to investigate and seeking the public’s assistance after nearly $50,000 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets were stolen from a north-end business late last year.

Police were called Dec. 16 to a business on Woodlawn Road West. Investigation revealed a suspect had pried open the front doors to gain entry to the store overnight.

They were captured on video a short time later exiting the business with two reusable shopping bags filled with scratch tickets and fleeing in their vehicle. The owner of the business advised the tickets were not activated at the time of the theft and would be flagged so they could be redeemed.

An investigation by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation revealed someone had attempted to redeem one of the stolen tickets the morning of Dec. 15 at a business in Waterloo.
