Here's what Minto council was paid in 2024

Over $189,000 was spent on council remuneration between Minto's five councillors, deputy mayor and mayor in 2024

MINTO — Minto council's salaries totalled almost $160,000 last year. 

According to a new report from Minto treasurer Gordon Duff, Minto council was paid $158,064 in remuneration in 2024. When you include total expenses, that number jumps to $189,493. 

Duff went on to say the net tax-supported council expense for the 2024 fiscal year was $174,347 with a budgeted amount of $206,700. Salaries are adjusted annually in line with cost-of-living increases if approved for municipal staff. 

Not including meeting allowances, expenses and mileage, Mayor Dave Turton made $33,033 in 2024 while Deputy Mayor Jean Anderson brought in $21,735.

All five councillors made $20,659 a piece. 

Councillor Ron Elliott had the most expenses at $10,271, with approximately $6,640 in conventions, seminars and expenses.

Pension premiums totalled $10,989. All councillors were also eligible to use up to $2,000 per year from a Health Care Spending Account; $4,959 was used in 2024.
