No one home at the time fire reported, says deputy fire chief

Fergus firefighters were joined by their Elora counterparts at the scene of a Tuesday afternoon house fire on Woodside Street, between Forfar and Garafraxa streets.

Jonathan Karn, deputy fire chief for the Centre Wellington Fire Rescue Department, explained no one was home when the fire was reported, with the exception of four pets – two cats and two dogs.

One of the cats received medical treatment.

An investigation into the fire’s cause is set to begin soon, Karn noted.
