ramos96 is correct. This is NOT NIMBY.
This is a case of trying to get the university to do the right thing for the local community and the education community at large. The U of G has shown its colours in the past so cannot be trusted in the future.
This group is right to bring this major environmental problem to light as soon as possible, because local government is so slow in recognising what is happening in their purview and really slow in making the correct decisions.

Remember what Putin did to Ukraine? Cut-off international trade routes to break their economy, attack their ports, then suggest trading ships trying to get to Ukraine would be treated as military.
The St. Lawrence seaway is controlled by Canada and the US (both countries control locks in the system). Either country could stop shipping by closing their locks, cutting off international trade in steel and grain - both to US and Canadian cities.

Given that the current Ontario Living Wage (website) for 2024 is $21.30 per hour and of this income 44% is needed to afford the Ontario 1 bedroom rental of $1,508 will the city be setting recommended "affordable housing" values each year or six months as part of this CPPS?

BLARING truck horns in the small hours of the morning is not considered lawful or respectful.
Even honking at those times could get you a ticket.
If you cannot support a Canada Proud initiative, maybe you should not make silly comments.

All the commenters please use correct wordage.
Problem is that "would of" sounds like "would've" which is a contraction of "would have". The contracted spelling gives a clue to the two separate words. don't = do not; should've = should have.
If not sure - Google AI will give the correct wording.

Everyone seems to be missing a critical fact in all this rhetoric.
The Canadians will be meeting with government representatives BUT Trump does what he wants to do without input from his government.
Carney and Ford have to demand a public meeting with Trump (similar to the one he had with Zelenskyy) and let all of America see that he does not care about Americans he only cares about doing what he wants to do and LYING about it.

Well what can you expect from a City and County who rush off to hold Affordable Housing Symposia then do NOTHING!
This attitude is probably also applied to the requests to improve development time and overheads. Ergo, not enough affordable accommodation development to control rental prices.

The Canadian Council on Social Development states that 1996 median salary was $54,958,
Using the Consumer Price Index (often used by statisticians to advance salary data) $100,000 becomes $176,715.41 in 2023 (which seems a little high), leaving only 14 city employees over this salary in the 2023 Sunshine List.
Statistics Canada (Table 14-10-0209-01) gives average Ontario hourly wages for December 2024 that calculates to an overall average of $169,121.68, leaving only 16 employees over this salary.
If we use $142,000 then the count is 89.

But... it is an American product and is now backed by the Mawron Actively Governing America.
To avoid American which has now become a strong stance against MAGA, I would look at Audi (European build) or Toyota (Japanese build).
