Seven Guelph youths face robbery charges after police say an eighth youth was lured to a vacant building and had his property stolen.
On Oct. 11, the 17-year-old victim attended a vacant building in the downtown area believing he was meeting a female with whom he had been communicating online. Instead he was confronted by several teens who followed him into the building.
The victim was repeatedly punched and kicked and handed over property including his phone and some clothing. He sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment. Video footage of the incident was shared on social media, leading to the identity of the accused parties.
Four males and three females, ranging in age from 14 to 17, have since been arrested for robbery. They have all been released to appear in a Guelph court Dec. 7, 2022.
