If you’ve received a text message about an outstanding parking ticket, chances are it’s a scam.
Guelph police is putting the word out on the latest attempt by scammers trying to access your funds illegally.
The service posted on X that it has received "several reports" this week.
The example used by police states a date the ticket was supposedly handed out, and when the due date for payment is. A link is also provided for victims to click on, and a resolution is necessary to avoid licence suspension.
“There are reports of victims losing money after clicking on the link. THIS IS A SCAM,” police say.
