An Etobicoke man was arrested after a security guard interrupted a break and enter in Guelph early Friday morning, Guelph police report.
Just after 2 a.m. police were called to a business near Massey Road and Royal Road after a security guard on routine patrol came across three males removing metal from a compound and placing it in their van. A hole had been cut in the fence to gain access from a neighbouring business.
Two males fled on foot while the third tried to leave in the van but was blocked by the complainant’s vehicle. Officers arrived a short time later and arrested the driver. A search of the van revealed various break-in tools and more than 70 aluminum posts.
A 52-year-old Etobicoke man is charged with break and enter, possessing break-in tools and possessing stolen property. He was held for a bail hearing Friday. The investigation is ongoing.
