Guelph police are investigating after a motorist reportedly twice approached a young child Tuesday and offered him candy.
Shortly after 4 p.m. police were called to the area of Willow Road and Elmira Road North after a father reported the incident. A 12-year-old boy said he was walking home from school when a vehicle travelling the opposite way slowed and the driver asked if he wanted candy. The driver also claimed to know the boy’s father.
The child shook his head and kept walking, but noted the driver made a U-turn and continued following him. Near Elmira Road North and Chilico Drive the male again offered candy, shaking a jar of candy at him. The boy ignored him and kept walking.
The subject male was described as having brown skin, possibly Indian, and wearing a black sweater. He was driving a white Hyundai Elantra, approximately 2017, and had a small child in the back seat.
