The holidays are full of traditions, both new and old. They are part of the magic of this special time of year.

A magical event which could be your family’s new or old tradition, is the Elora Singers performance of Handel’s Messiah, at St. Joseph’s Church in Fergus.

“We are thrilled to present this transcendent, timeless choral masterpiece, with members of the London Symphonia,” said a chorus spokesperson. “The performance will feature virtuosic arias from soloists drawn from the choir as well as powerful choruses that will fill the beautiful sanctuary of St Joseph’s.”

The Elora Singers, under the direction of Mark Vuorinen, has established an international reputation as one of Canada’s finest professional choirs. The Grammy- and JUNO-nominated ensemble is renowned for its diverse styles and recognized internationally for its rich, warm sound and clarity of texture.

Messiah is a tradition for this fine choir, and one the community embraces each year. “Our performance of the Messiah is a celebrated holiday tradition in the area, and we love bringing it back to our audience each year,” said the spokesperson.

The Elora Singers’ performance of The Messiah will take place on December 8 at 4 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 760 David St. North, Fergus. They will be joined by members of London Symphonia.
