Neighbour dispute in The Ward turns violent

A Guelph woman faces several charges after a neighbour dispute led to an assault and smashed window.

Just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to an address near York Road and Ontario Street. A resident reported approximately 5 p.m. she was slapped in the face, punched repeatedly in the head and threatened by a neighbour with whom she had ongoing issues. Several hours later the neighbour returned and smashed a window at the front of the victim’s house.

Just before 8 a.m. officers attended a nearby address and arrested the suspect. Investigation revealed she was also wanted for failing to appear in court on several outstanding charges.

A 36-year-old Guelph woman is charged with assault, uttering threats, mischief under $5,000 and failing to attend court. She was held for a bail hearing and has been released.
