Pedestrian struck this morning in 'critical' condition, say police

Police encourage witnesses, those with video to speak with investigators

A Guelph woman was airlifted to a Hamilton trauma centre in critical condition after she was struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning.

Approximately 5:10 a.m. emergency services were called to Woolwich Street south of Speedvale Avenue. Preliminary investigation revealed a woman in her 30s was walking on the road wearing dark clothing when she was struck.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He was not physically injured. Woolwich Street was closed for several hours as the investigation continued.
