Over a dozen new public complaints have been filed against Guelph police.

According to a quarterly report heading to the Guelph Police Services Board on Thursday, there were 15 public complaints received between April 1 and June 30.

The 15 is up slightly from the 12 registered in the first three months of the year.

The report says 10 of the 15 were screened out, while the others were referred for investigation.

The report doesn’t list individual cases, or the circumstances behind them.

One of the matters referred has already concluded and the investigation into the other four are ongoing. One other matter carried into the quarter remains ongoing.

The complaints were received from the Law Enforcement Complaints Agency (LECA), an independent civilian oversight agency. The Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) changed its name to LECA, as of Apr. 1.

There are also no investigations ongoing by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit. Two cases were closed in the last three months.
