Guelph police see 54 accidental 911 calls in one day

Police reminding the public to stay on line if they accidentally call 911
911 emergency

Residents are reminded to be careful with their phones and to stay on the line if they accidentally call 911 after the Guelph Police Service received 54 misdials in the past 24 hours.

Each 911 call received must be fully investigated, which is much easier if a caller remains on the line to provide a few details and explain what happened. Failing to do so will require additional work by call takers, potentially delaying them from answering legitimate emergency calls, and could cause officers to be dispatched to check the caller’s wellbeing.
