On Jan. 29, 2018 members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an attempted fraud at a TD Bank location on Geddes Street, Elora. At approximately 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 24, 2018, an unknown male attempted to withdraw over $4,000 using a fraudulently obtained bank card. His attempt was unsuccessful.
Investigation revealed that the man had previously attended another bank in the area, provided a fake identification card and acquired a replacement bank card for a valid client's account.
OPP is asking the public for their assistance in identifying the suspect from the photo associated with the fake ID. Eye witness reports estimate the suspect's height as 178 cm (5'10").
