The call that led to school lockdowns in Guelph this week came from the United States.
That, from Guelph police, who say investigators were able to determine the call originated from "an area in the midwest" of the US.
"As a result of the investigation, the threat was deemed not to be a credible threat to public safety in Guelph," police stated in a news release Friday.
Police said it worked with law enforcement agencies in the US to investigate the suspect. Police said US agencies have "since taken actions to deal with the matter."
It's not known what actions were taken, including if any arrests were made, or if a warning was issued.
"It is still under investigation there, and we don't want to negatively impact the investigation by giving those details," a police spokesperson said in an email.
Police said a call was received at St. Michael Catholic Elementary School on McElderry Road around 2:35 p.m. Wednesday. The caller issued a bomb threat.
St Michael, along with Jean Little Public School on Youngman Drive, both went into lockdown.
Rickson Ridge Public School was placed under a hold and secure.
Following the investigation on site, police said Wednesday that the threat was "unfounded" and students were escorted out of the schools soon after Wednesday afternoon.
