Guelph United's Jared Agyemang scored twice to lift the men's side to a 4-0 win over Sigma FC in League1 Ontario Premier Division action at Centennial Bowl.

Guelph United’s depleted men’s team is back above the relegation line in League1 Ontario’s top division after a much needed win over the weekend.

Jared Agyemang scored twice in the second half to lead United to a 4-0 win over Sigma FC at Centennial Bowl Sunday. Colin Gander and Kyle Cordeiro scored the other two goals.

Guelph got the three points despite playing without six first-team players who were either injured or suspended.

The win pushes United to 4-8 on the year, one point ahead of Sigma for 10th in the 12-team league.

Guelph takes on Hamilton United Wednesday at home at 8 p.m.

The men’s game was the second half of a double dip at Centennial Bowl.

The Guelph United women lost a narrow 1-0 decision to FC London earlier in the day. The lone goal came in the 68th minute.

The loss drops the women’s side to 4-7-2 on the year, good for seventh in the women’s Premier Division with 14 points, three points ahead of ninth place Alliance United with five games remaining on the year.

The ninth place team would have to play a one-game playoff against a second division team to avoid relegation.

The United women host first place NDC Ontario Tuesday night at 8 p.m.
