Dec. 11, morning, zero degrees, snowing. There’s enough fresh snow on the sidewalks to bury your boots. This is what winter should look like.
It hasn’t looked quite this wintry in early December in some time. But snow throughout the weekend and into Monday morning covered the city and the surrounding country in a very white, very cold blanket.
The dumping was treacherous for motorists – there were over 20 collisions in the area on the weekend. And made it slow-going for kids and parents tromping to school in the morning.
While the parking lots of several malls were cleared of snow by first light, the same could not be said for most streets in the city.
Expect more snow to come this week. The forecast calls for flurries on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. And it will be colder.
But this is Canada, and this is what a winter looks like.
