The opening of Guelph's new high school has been pushed back a year, to the 2026/2027 school year.
The previous target date was 2025/2026.
Construction is planned for spring pending ministry and municipal approvals, said Jen Edwards, trustee, as she read a report at the UGDSB board meeting on Tuesday.
After UGDSB's approval to proceed request is approved by the Ministry of Education the project will go to tender, said Glen Regier, executive superintendent of business services for UGDSB, in an email
When the tender process is closed and the board has received bids an updated project cost for the new school can be provided.
The initial cost of the school was $25.5 million with a September 2022 opening date.
The UGDSB is continuing to work with the City of Guelph on site plan approval.
The as-yet to be named school is at the corner of Arkell Road and Victoria Road. It will accommodate 900 students.
The high school was initially approved in January 2018 by the province.
