Kazoo! Fest returns for its 9th annual festival with five days of music and art

GUELPH - Kazoo! Fest is back with its strongest offering to date.

With a carefully curated lineup of some of the best independent music from Canada and abroad, the 9th annual festival will transform downtown Guelph into a hotbed of music and art for five action-packed days.

From April 6 to 10, the festival will showcase over 40 musical performances, visual art, multimedia art installations, the Kazoo! Print Expo, contemporary dance, comedy and more.

This year's music lineup will feature artists from all across Canada performing alongside a number of American artists.

A few highlights include performances from Calgary's multidisciplinary artist Chad VanGaalen, New York City guitar virtuoso Yonatan Gat, Toronto cellist extraordinaire Cris Derksen, the iconic Julie Doiron, as well as a much anticipated set from New York City heavy-hitters, Kid Millions and Jim Sauter duo.

Kazoo! Fest will also feature Montreal supergroup Beat Cops, Hamilton hip hop artist Emay as well as Sackville's up-and-coming Partner who will perform in collaboration with Sappyfest.

Other co-presenters and collaborators include like-minded organizations such as Wavelength, Ed Video, Fortnight Music, Headless Owl Records and more.

The full music lineup will, as always, also include a selection of Guelph's best new artists, including Cupcake Ductape, Matt Monoogian, VIDA, and more.

Kazoo! Fest will also debut the results of the 3rd annual instalment of the Look Hear! Microgrant, an original mixed media presentation commission by Kazoo! Fest and Ed Video Media Arts Centre.

2016’s Look Hear! presentation will be a multimedia performance by local artists Jenny Mitchell, Scott Haynes, Devon Kerslake and Curtis Walker.

A full visual art, multimedia installations and special projects program announcement will be made shortly.

Since 2006, Kazoo! Fest has been a platform for showcasing emerging artists through forward thinking programming that challenges audiences’ expectations and champions bold and exciting new music.

Kazoo! operates as a year round new music series that culminates every year in Kazoo! Fest, an annual five-day celebration of independent music and art.

Kazoo! Fest is a not-for-profit organization led by musicians, artists and cultural producers who believe that innovative new music and art can strengthen communities and bring people together.

The full festival schedule, festival passes and advance tickets will be available soon.
