Those impacted by the cyber attack at Wellington Catholic District School Board are being offered identity protection services.
WCDSB was one of the boards across North America targeted in a data breach through an app from PowerSchool. The breach occurred between Dec. 22 to 28.
PowerSchool is providing two years of free identity protection services for students and staff whose information was compromised. PowerSchool reported it isn’t aware of any identity theft connected to the cyber incident, said in a WCDSB email to parents.
Staff and students can sign up for the services online with instructions provided by WCDSB on its website.
A limited number of students enrolled between 2000 and 2015 had their social insurance numbers impacted and have since been changed, continued in the email.
