Before and after school care has expanded at the Wellington Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) by adding childcare to Mary Phelan Catholic Elementary School in Guelph.
The before and after program launched in September. It is also offered at other WCDSB sites. WCDSB partnered with Wellington Early Learning Centre (WELC) for the program expansion.
It provides care as an option for families to have their children receive before and after childcare at the school so parents don’t have to travel elsewhere.
“Our program encourages independent thinking, problem-solving, and social skills development through engaging activities tailored to different age groups. Licensed educators ensure that children receive quality care in a safe and nurturing environment, giving parents confidence in their childcare choice,” said Tammy Gallant, WELC program administrator, in a press release.
Childcare drop-off is available starting at 7 a.m. and pick-up runs until 6 p.m. Full-day programs are available during PA days, March break, winter, and summer breaks.
“Families can register at any time based on availability. Additionally, WELC is approved for subsidies, making quality childcare more accessible to families in need,” said Upasna Arora, site supervisor, in the release.
