Chamber welcomes dynamic new board at Annual General Meeting

The Guelph Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its incoming 2016-2017 Board of Directors – duly elected at the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held Tuesday, Nov. 15 at the Holiday Inn Guelph.

The Guelph Chamber’s incoming 2016-2017 Board of Directors are:

Executive Committee:

  • Michael Henley, Miller Thomson LLP – Chair
  • Stefan Wiesen, Intrigue Media – 1st Vice Chair
  • Melanie Lang, CBaSE, University of Guelph – 2nd Vice Chair
  • Kim Aitken, RLB LLP – Treasurer
  • Carly O’Brien, Intrigue Media – Past Chair

Board Members:

  • Jackie Ooms, Bensol Consulting
  • Leonard Sharman, The Co-operators
  • Patrick Wieland, RBC
  • Kevin Boon, Innovation Guelph
  • Andrew Clark, ALIGNED Insurance
  • Mark Stoddart, Linamar Corporation
  • Helen Stoumbos, Gleam Media Inc.

“As the leading voice of business, the Guelph Chamber is directed by a Board that provides guidance and strategic oversight to management,” says Michael Henley, incoming Chair of the Board of Directors. “Each year, the Chamber’s Membership, of over 900 businesses and organizations, elects Directors to the Board that will direct the organization on its Members’ behalf through the coming year.”

“As Directors, we have much work to do as the Chamber continues to implement its Strategic Plan 2015-2018,” adds Henley.

“The organization’s mission – to be the leading business organization, providing thought leadership to drive community growth and economic prosperity – is ambitious. Its vision – to set the national standard for fostering community prosperity – is bold. I remain confident that, with this talented Board and the Chamber team, our goals are attainable.”

“The Chamber team is incredibly excited to begin work with the new Board,” says Kithio Mwanzia, President & CEO of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce.

“We have already done much to begin implementing the organization’s Strategic Plan 2015-2018. Over the coming months, we will add to this work, ultimately striving to set the national standard for fostering community prosperity.”
