The Making Box. Improv for Educators. Online, drop-In
Planning and delivering lessons is an essential part of teaching. This session seeks to help you develop a frame of mind so you can deliver your content with greater confidence and flexibility. Scientific research shows that using improvisation in the classroom can lead to greater participation online, group collaboration, self-efficacy, confidence and even better teaching evaluations. This interactive session will introduce you to three improv principles that you can apply in your classroom and to your mindset as an educator. Focus On Nature. April 12-16. Online
Kids need quality time in nature, especially now during the COVID-19 lockdowns. So we’ve revamped our March Break Camp program so your children can participate from home! During the week of April 12 to 16, each day will start with an online photography lesson where campers will learn new techniques for both camera and cellphone photography. They will be exposed to macro photography, landscape photography, and more! Campers will then be given a photo challenge and encouraged to explore nature in their neighbourhood while putting their new skills into practice. In the afternoon we’ll gather again on Zoom to learn how to edit our photos and participate in some fun activities. Campers will connect with other passionate nature photographers throughout the week and share their photographs with each other!
Our camp councillors will conduct the camp through Zoom, so campers will need a computer or tablet with internet connection to participate. A meeting link will be emailed to participants on the Sunday before camp. Contact Taylor at [email protected]
