The Gryphons women's hockey team enters the postseason as one of the most in-form teams in the conference, winning 9 straight games to earn the top overall seed in the OUA playoffs. Guelph will open up their postseason campaign on Thursday night when they host the York Lions in a best-of-three series. York made the trip down to Windsor last Thursday night (Feb. 20) to take on the Windsor Lancers in the opening round play-in-game, where the Lions came away with 5-3 road win to earn this opportunity against the OUA's top overall seed. The Lions have some history at knocking off the No. 1-seed in the quarterfinals, as they eliminated the OUA East's top-seed Nipissing Lakers in last season's playoffs. The Gryphons will be in tough as these two sides split the regular season series with both teams winning on the road. The loss Guelph suffered was on Oct. 24 where York shutout the Gryphs 1-0, but these two teams did just meet over a week ago on Feb. 15 where the Gryphons earned a 4-1 road win to clinch the top overall seed in the conference. The winner of this series will crossover and face the winner of the series between the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Toronto Varsity Blues.
