Traffic stop results in drug charges

A Caledon man faces drug charges following a traffic stop in Guelph Saturday morning.

Approximately 7:40 a.m. police stopped a vehicle on Woolwich Street near Speedvale Avenue because it is registered to a suspended driver. While approaching the vehicle, officers observed a white substance and glass pipes inside the car.

The driver was detained and a search revealed quantities of suspected cocaine, Percocet pills, four cellphones, a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia, as well as $1,130 in cash.

A 40-year-old man is charged with two counts of possessing controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking, possessing a controlled substance and obstructing police.
