Eramosa Road is closed between Stevenson Street and Meyer Drive after a an elderly female pedestrian was killed after being hit by a vehicle.
Guelph police say the woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries. A short time later they confirmed the person was deceased.
Guelph police say the collision happened around 3:30 p.m. at the entrance to the Shoppers Drug Mart between Stevenson Street and Meyer Drive.
Several officers remain on the scene late afternoon and some appeared to be investigating a vehicle in the Shoppers Drug Mart parking lot.
The road is expected to be closed for some time and people are asked to avoid the area.
