Guelph Police say they don’t believe there is any risk to public safety after the body of a male was discovered by a group of school children on Tuesday.

Sgt. Andrew Goody of the Guelph Police Service confirmed the body of a male was found beside a plaza at the intersection of Grange Road and Starwood Drive on Tuesday by a group of students from nearby Ken Danby Public School.

Goody said emergency services attended the scene and that police are now working with the coroner’s office to determine a cause of death and to notify next of kin.

“We do not believe there is any risk to public safety,” said Goody.

GuelphToday will have more information on this story as it becomes available.
