On Feb. 21, at 3:08 p.m., Guelph police were conducting speed enforcement near the intersection of Gordon Street and Edinburgh Road South.

Police observed a teenage male driving a motor vehicle southbound on Gordon Street at a speed of 100 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone while weaving between traffic.

Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop, however the driver refused to stop, reaching speeds in excess of 110 km/hr, swerving between traffic, failing to stop at a red light at the Gordon Street and Arkell Road intersection, and narrowly avoiding a head on collision with another vehicle as he turned eastbound on Arkell Road.

The vehicle was ultimately never stopped as the pursuit was discontinued due to public safety concerns.

Police investigation revealed the identity of the male.

On Wednesday afternoon police located the male and his vehicle, and he was subsequently arrested.

A 17-year-old Kitchener male has been charged with:

- Flight from police
- Dangerous operation
- Drive motor vehicle perform stunt
- Speeding 100 km/hr in 50 km/hr zone
