OPP investigating fires in Erin housing development

The Wellington County OPP are investigating after responding to two fires Thursday night.    

On Sept. 27, 2024, at around 00:54 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with fire crews with the Erin Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Brown Street, in the Town of Erin.

Two separate fires were reported in a new housing development.  A total of 8 houses have sustained damage in some way, some of them being completely destroyed. Police and fire crews are deeming the fires suspicious and are asking the public to review video surveillance and dash cam footage if you were in the area at the time of the fires. 

A vehicle fire in the vicinity was reported a short time later and police are determining if it is related.

There are no injuries to report and all the houses resulting in damages were unoccupied.
