Men with machete steal booze from downtown-area business

Suspects didn't attempt to speak with staff or customers, no physical injuries reported

Three men armed with a machete made off with numerous bottles of alcohol from a business near downtown on Wednesday evening.

The trio entered a business in the area of Gordon and Wellington streets at about 8:30 p.m., explains a police news release. One approached the cash register and remained there, while the other two filled reusable bags they brought with them with bottles of alcohol. 

As they were leaving, less than two minutes later, one of the men dropped a machete, which was picked up by one of the other robbers.

The men were last seen running southbound through the parking lot toward Gordon.

The suspects were described as:

  • Brown skin, dark full facial hair, wearing a black sweater, dark pants and a black toque
  • Brown skin, dark full facial hair, wearing a baby blue half-zip sweater over black t-shirt with white writing, burgundy turban, carrying a large patterned reusable bag
  • Brown skin, dark full facial hair, wearing a long-sleeved black, white and grey striped shirt, blue Toronto Maple Leafs cap, carrying a reusable Home Depot bag

The robbers did not attempt to speak to or interact with any staff or customers and there were no physical injuries reported. The value of the stolen product is unknown at this time.
