A Guelph man faces assault and weapons charges after another man allegedly had a knife held to his neck Thursday afternoon, Guelph police report.
Approximately 4:20 p.m. staff of a downtown social service agency called police after learning of an incident which took place 30 minutes earlier. A resident accused another male of stealing his cigarettes, holding a knife to his neck as he continued questioning him. Staff later observed the interaction on video.
Both involved males had left the property before police arrived, however the suspect was located a couple hours later and arrested.
A 24-year-old Guelph man is charged with assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing.
