A 37-year-old Guelph man faces several charges following what police describe as a “mini crime spree” in the city’s north end early Wednesday.

Shortly after 3 a.m., police responded to two neighbouring businesses on Woodlawn Road West, near Woolwich Street. Both had been entered by smashing windows and each reported a small amount of cash stolen.

A short time later, officers were called to a business near Woodlawn Road East and Victoria Road North after a man reportedly reached in the drive-through window and took cash from a register.

While at that scene, police observed smashed windows at another nearby business. Video shows a male pulling on the front door before smashing the glass door and another large window, causing about $10,000 in damage.

Just before 8:30 a.m. officers located a male at Woolwich Street and Suffolk Street East and placed him under arrest. During a search, police reportedly found quantities of crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl, as well as cash.

The accused is charged with three counts of break and enter, theft under $5,000, two counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and three counts of breach of a probation order.
