Four suspects with hammers rob Guelph jewelry store

Hammer-wielding robbers smashed the front door to gain entry as staff were on site at north end store

Guelph police are investigating after a north-end jewelry store robbery that happened in the north end Tuesday afternoon.

Royal Gold Jewellery and Precious Metals in the Speedvale Plaza at 328 Speedvale Ave. E. (the FreshCo plaza) was robbed.

Police report that approximately 1:45 p.m., four suspects used hammers to break the glass front door and enter the business, where they used the hammers to smash display cases.

The suspects were dressed in dark clothing including hoodies and masks and fled the scene in a black Acura sedan.

Nobody in the business sustained physical injuries, police report.

Staff on scene declined to speak to media.

The investigation is ongoing.
