Guelph woman faces impaired and dangerous driving charges after several driving complaints were received Wednesday afternoon.
Approximately 1:20 p.m. police began receiving 911 calls about a Lexus being driven erratically on Exhibition Street. Callers reported the driver was going into oncoming traffic and driving over curbs. Officers located the vehicle a short distance away and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver appeared to be confused and lethargic and was unable to follow officers’ directions. She was arrested and transported to the police station, and during a search a small amount of suspected crystal methamphetamine was located on her person.
An officer trained in drug recognition concluded her ability to operate a vehicle was impaired by consumption of drugs. A 30-year-old Guelph woman is charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving and possessing a controlled substance. Her licence was suspended for 90 days and her vehicle was impounded for seven days.
