Guelph police are investigating two separate attempted thefts of Toyota Tundra pick-ups from south end neighbourhoods.

Wednesday morning, a resident in the area of Kortright Road West and Rickson Avenue woke to find a rear passenger window on his 2023 Tundra had been smashed and the wiring below the steering wheel ripped out.

Video surveillance showed a male inside the vehicle at 2:37 a.m. who then fled and got into the passenger side of a dark-coloured sedan, possibly a two-door BMW.

At 2 a.m. Thursday, police received a call from a resident near Farley Drive and Pine Ridge Drive reporting two males had just broken into her husband’s 2024 Tundra. Both were described as white males in their mid-20s and wearing black hoodies.

They fled after making eye contact with the complainant and were last seen fleeing in a dark-coloured SUV with a third person driving. The Tundra’s side window was smashed and the fuse box had been ripped out.

Police say it is not known if the two incidents are related.
