The case against a Guelph man in a 2022 homicide case is heading to trial in March.

Nine days have been set aside for James Dobbs, who is being tried for second-degree murder in the July 2022 death of a man at an apartment in Downtown Guelph.

It is scheduled to begin March 17, and run the rest of that week.

It picks up again Apr. 22-25.

While the nine days have been booked, court documents say parties “anticipate that the trial may be significantly shortened by admissions. It may only require five days.”

The trial will be done by a judge, without a jury.

At the time, Guelph police said in a news release it had received information about an alleged murder taking place inside a downtown apartment on July 11, 2022. The investigation led officers to a location near the Wellington Street East and Wyndham Street South intersection two days later.

The remains of an adult male were located behind a business.

Dobbs was located and arrested the same day. He was 43 at the time of the arrest.
