Business owner watches on phone as thieves steal safe, cash and smokes

Man received a phone alert around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday that his business was being broken into

Police are investigating after a break-in early Tuesday at a west end business.

Approximately 3:50 a.m. police received a call from the owner of a business near Speedvale Avenue West and Marksam Road. He advised he had received an alert on his phone about a break-in and could see three males inside the business. Officers arrived a short time later but the suspects had already fled.

Security video showed three males arriving in a black car, which was reversed to the front door of the business. One of the males used a tool to pry open the door. A safe, cash register, cigarettes and two trays of lottery tickets were removed and loaded into the trunk.

The suspects were described as:

  • Male, white, thin build, black medical mask, black sweater with the hood up, black pants, black and white shoes, white gloves
  • Male, white, heavy build, black ski mask, blue sweater, black pants, black shoes, black gloves
  • Male, white, heavy build, black ski mask, black sweater, black pants, black shoes, black gloves

They were driving a four-door black Infiniti with silver rims.
