St. James Catholic High School senior girls team is headed to OFSAA after taking home the CWOSSA volleyball championship title this past weekend.
The team of Sienna Good, Mikayla Melehes, Avery Stocco, Maya Parol-Perkins, Taylor Toomey, Allison Larrass and Ashley Aitken, coached by Greg Good, Deanne Melehes, and Joanna Ciolfi, went undefeated in pool play at the Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association tournament, going on to win in five sets against the Simcoe Composites.
Last year St. James battled it out at CWOSSA ending in fifth-place. For the four returning athletes and coach Ciolfi, who has been with this group of girls their entire high school career, it is an amazing feat to represent the school at the highest level of competition in Ontario.
“Heading to OFSAA is extremely exciting, and we are so proud of all the hard work, determination and camaraderie that the team has shown throughout the season,” said Ciolfi.
The team goes to St. Catharines to compete in the Ontario finals, playing its first game on March 6.
