Guelph Royals swept out of playoffs

Fall 6-4 at Hastings Stadium Sunday as Hamilton Cardinals win four straight

The Guelph Royals saw their season come to an end Sunday afternoon at Hastings Stadium.

The Hamilton Cardinals finishe off a first-round playoff sweep of the Royals with a 6-4 victory.

Guelph was outscored 33-10 over the four games.

The Royals finished sixth in the eight-team Intercounty Baseball League in the regular season with a 16-20 record.

On Sunday, Sean Reilly, Justin Interisano and Angel Villalona went deep for Guelph. Reilly finished 3-for-4, Interisano added a double, and Villalona also singled and drove in two. Josh Garton went 2-for-5 with a run. 
Edwin Javier took the loss, giving up six runs (four earned) on five hits over six innings. He walked seven and struck out four. 

Jake Foden went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run, while Luke Tevlin drove in a pair and scored one run for Hamilton. Connor Bowie tripled and scored twice, and Jake Chiaravalle added an RBI.
Chris Lazar (2-0) picked up the win, giving up two runs on seven hits in five and a third innings. He walked two and struck out one. Kelvin Pichardo recorded the last six outs for his second save of the series. Pichardo allowed a run on one hit with two walks and three strikeouts.
