Affected products

This recall involves Gümi – Bblüv water-filled teething toys.  The water-filled teething toys have a hollow circle shape with a raccoon or owl head. These teething toys are available in semi-transparent green and yellow.

Issue

Under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, teether fillings must not contain any living micro-organisms. Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has determined that the liquid filling is contaminated with the bacteria Priestia aryabhattai/megaterium and Burkholderia cepacia complex. These bacteria are usually harmless, but they may cause an infection in children if the toy is punctured and the leaking fluid is ingested.

As of Sept. 29, 2022, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada.

What you should do

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled teethers and dispose of the product.
