UPDATED: Two collisions close westbound 401 between Cambridge and Guelph

Three people were taken to hospital with serious injuries in separate collisions on same stretch of highway

Two collisions in Puslinch have closed the westbound lanes of Highway 401 at Highway 6 North this morning.

Update: Police say the injuries are non-life threatening and that the highway is expected to be reopened by noon.

One driver was transported to a trauma centre this morning following a collision between a car and a transport just before a second serious collision involving two commercial vehicles and a passenger van.

Both accidents happened west of the Highway 6 North exit to Guelph.

The Ontario Provincial Police Highway Division and Mississauga OPP said on X that one driver suffered serious injuries in the second collision and was taken to hospital by Ornge air ambulance. A second driver was transported to hospital by EMS.

All westbound lanes of the highway were closed at Guelph Line before 8 a.m.

Traffic is exiting at Hwy 6 north. Police have not stated when they expect the westbound lanes to reopen.
