Signs reading" temporarily closed" are posted on the front doors of the Cineplex theatre on Clair Road.

Wanting moviegoers in the city’s south end will have to slot some extra travel time into their plans.

Included among the damage caused by this week’s record-setting rainfall is flooding at the Cineplex theatre at Pergola Commons on Clair Road, which is temporarily closed as a result.

“We did, like many, experience flooding due to the exceptional rainfalls in the area,” said communications assistant Alannah O’Farrell in an emailed statement. “We are working hard to clean up Galaxy Cinemas Pergola Commons to welcome guests back as soon as possible for a safe and fun moviegoing experience.”

The company provided no clear timeline for re-opening.

One of the front doors was propped open when GuelphToday visited the theatre on Thursday afternoon. White material was hung up inside, blocking the view of anything beyond the lobby.
