A section of Arthur Street and Elizabeth Street will be closed to through traffic for several weeks starting June 22.

A section of Elizabeth Street will be closed for several weeks beginning Monday, June 22, for underground infrastructure improvements.

It will be closed to through traffic from Macdonell Street to about 75 metres east of Duke Street for the beginning of work to replace sewers, storm sewers and water main pipes. Arthur Street north of the railway tracks will also be closed to through traffic.

The project also includes the completion of work on sidewalks and driveways along Arthur Street.

Work is expected to start on or about Monday, June 22, and be completed by mid-August, weather permitting, says the city.

The sidewalks on Elizabeth Street are expected to remain open, however, pedestrians should follow posted signs during construction.

All businesses in the construction area remain open and accessible throughout construction.

Guelph Transit Route 14 will be temporarily detoured during construction. Visit guelphtransit.ca for information about stop changes and route detours.
